I’m Roma Jazmin.
I believe in a Purpose Driven Life.
Do your feel like you are in the middle of warring states? Only, this time, it’s your state of mind. :-)
Do you feel like you are spending so little time with family and if only you could, you would rather stay and work from home? Or maybe, you want to do something else.
During my time, there was not much opportunity to work from home. You either work at the office or do business somewhere.
Don't get me wrong. I do not regret having worked in an office for more than 30 years. My corporate life has taught me so much in life and has helped me provide for the needs of our family.
But just like everyone else, there came a point in my life when I felt like “I need to do something else, something deeper and with greater meaning”.
This came to me when I was in my 40s. When I got promoted to managerial level, my responsibilities grew, more time was required to catch up with the demands of work, and pressures increased. It became harder and harder to balance my time between work, family and church.
But then, I knew that was the place where God placed me at that time and therefore, I should do my best in whatever I had to do. I continued working but it was a roller coaster of emotions. I was very happy at times, at other times I would feel burnt out and wanted to retire. But every time I prayed about retirement, the message would be clear that it was not the right time yet.
And so, the obedient child in me stayed on…for another 10+ or more years. :-)
Every year, I would discern for God’s will for me with regards to my career. It was only in 2019 when I finally got the go signal and felt at peace with the decision to retire.
However, I had to wait a little more for the right time because I learned that our company would offer a Manpower Reduction Program (MRP), which would give employees a better retirement package.
To make the long story short, I waited for that day and when it finally arrived, I didn’t have any qualms about retiring.
We all reach crossroads at some point in our life.
And every time we do, we should be able to think clearly and pray for God’s will. I am blessed to be a part of a community where we have regular prayer meetings and a strong support for Christian life.
In our community, I learned the beauty of discerning for every decision that I had to make. Making decisions, especially major ones, should not be done purely with emotions and gut feel.
I believe that the key to living a purposeful life lies in our ability to exercise discernment in every area of our life. And only by asking God to speak to us will we receive the needed discernment about every issue in our life.
“If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you”
Here at retiredmomma.com, we want you to discover your God-given purpose so all your actions and decisions today will help you live a meaningful life.

Life is great! I pray that you will live it to the fullest.
